MK Springer’s attended a session at The Base project at the Watling Way Centre during Easter. The project is for children aged 8 – 14 years who are all young carers, this means they have a caring responsibility at home, whether it be a parent or a sibling with an illness or disability.The scheme is to give them the opportunity to have time out from home responsibilities and have a chance to play and meet with others in a similar situation. We try to provide opportunities that would otherwise be un accessible to them via visitors to the scheme.The children who joined in during the session enjoyed the activity immensely, they would all like to have them back at another time to do more. We all, staff and children, felt that the staff and resources provided were of a high standard and will have no hesitation in inviting them back.
