"Gymnastics from tots to teens for the whole community of Milton Keynes"

History:

MK Springers was started in February 2004 on a cold Saturday morning in The Radcliffe School, Wolverton. Many of the gymnasts who attended that very first session still train with us today.

As a club we concentrate on three disciplines;

                                     General Gymnastics (Floor & Vault),
                                     Sports Acrobatics (Acro),
                                     Tumbling.

We are a young club with many inexperienced gymnasts who are training hard and learning fast. Our main aim is to run a cub that the children want to come to, meet existing and make new friends, and having fun while keeping fit & healthy.

Our aim was to bring gymnastics to as many children and young people as possible across Milton Keynes. With the help of a grant from The Milton Keynes Community Foundation we purchased soft play equipment. We also managed to find the funds to buy second hand mats, spring board and a van. The van was transformed by the brightly coloured sign writing which was kindly sponsored by Mr Chris Gurney of MKVC. We had three after school clubs and the original session on Saturday morning.

Since then we have changed completely; mainly thanks to the support and loyalty of our gymnasts and parents. We now take part regularly in General Gymnastic County competitions; at most of these events we are the club with the highest entry, which is because we believe every gymnasts deservers a chance to shine. The general gymnastic competitions have several levels; they allow gymnasts a chance to show their parents, family & friends how well they are progressing. It also allows the gymnasts build their self confidence; it take a lot of guts to get up in front of a packed gymnastic centre and perform a floor routine, but all our gymnast do it with a large smile on their faces.

In 2005 we opened Roade Gym club which takes place on Fridays at the Willison centre in Roade near Northampton.

After Easter 2006 we moved to The Hazeley School, this allowed us an increase in training hours. We started an acro ( sports acrobatics)  section. Since then these gymnasts have been training hard and we hope they will attend their first competitions in May 2007. After Easter 2007 we took the decision to move from The Hazeley School to a spot just 500 yards down the road at Medbourne Community Sports Pavilion. This new pavilion gives us the chance to offer more classes throughout the year and also regular Parent & Toddler sessions during the daytime.

January 2007 we also formed a new club at Oak Grove Leisure centre in Middelton. This has now grown from two sessions on Tuesday to two more sessions on Monday, with waiting list for both evenings. We are hoping to get another training session based there soon.

Another new venture this year is Easter Camp; this will be a three day residential camp for gymnasts, they will have the opportunity to work with an international acro coach, a national trampoline coach and an international (IPC), tumbling coach. This we hope to be an annual event with a possibility of a summer camp also.

This is a very brief synopsis of who we are - to find out the complete story come join us!..
