First Acro competition. What a great start!!!!
On the 13th
May Mk Springers took part in their first ever Buckinghamshire’s Open Sports
Acrobatic competition. The gymnasts in their new blue and silver leotards were
not sure what to expect having never competed in such an event before. They
knew they had trained and practised hard and were all hoping to make their
coaches and families proud. In sports acro competitions gymnasts perform a
floor routine in pairs or groups. First on floor in Prep A were Natasha Squires/Jessica Cutting, they performed
a solid routine achieving a credible sixth place. Hannah
Carter/Courtney Day battled with nerves to achieve seventh place over all. Anastasia Younger–Gray & Zoe Rymer were shocked to
receive first place with a gold medal, they were keeping good company on the podium
with team mates Chloe Turner/Deja Evans and Kayleigh Fox/Hasha Mundel-Simpkin
receiving silver and bronze respectively. In Prep B, MK Springers only
competitors in this level, Anastasia
Squires/Fenn Guy were jumping for joy when they
received their gold medal.
Not only were the gymnasts competing on floor
but they were also tumbling. Medal winners in tumbling were Deja Evans-gold in regional level 1. In regional level 2, Hannah Carter, Anastasia Y Gray, and Hasha Mundel-Simpkin, achieving gold, silver and bronze
respectively. Regional level 3, Zoe Rymer and Jessica
Cutting were first and second.
Regional level 4, saw Fenn Guy and Anastasia Squires fighting off stiff competition
to achieve gold and bronze medals. The final competitor was Natasha Squires, the only gymnast from
the club to compete in National level 1, with the whole club cheering her on
she achieved a silver medal.
MK Springers
Sports Acro coaches Carolyn & Ruth
were so proud of their gymnasts’ achievements, “We came here today for the
experience of taking part in a high level competition, and we never expected to
achieve so many medals. The gymnasts here today only train four hours a week in
a community hall, but their hard work and determination has paid off today.
We are now looking forward to our next one!”
